Non-Mennonite Families

Several non-Mennonite families lived in the area of the Snyder Community during the early years, when the Mennonites were moving in. These names I gleaned from Hale County History. As I gather more data about these folks, I will develop family pages for them. Submissions would be greatly appreciated!

John H. BUNTIN and Alice ROSSER - moved to Hale county in 1890, from Old Mobeetie, TX. He bought four sections of land for ranching and farming, some of which he sold later to Mennonite families.

E. R. SHELLY - 1910 Federal Census - Justice Precinct 1, Hale County, Texas [same page as Ferdinand Rastetter, Emanuel Hartman, and Peter B. Snyder]

Arie VAN HOWELING and Gertrude M. BUCY - bought farm land in Snyder in 1908; Baptists; 1910 Federal census - Justice Precinct 1, Hale County, Texas
Arie - aged 41, married for the second time, married 1 year, born in Iowa, both parents born in Holland
Gertrude - aged 25, married for the first time, mother of no children, born in Iowa, father born in Tennessee, mother born in Iowa
