Mennonite Colony Families

George B. (1863-1928) and Fannie (Landes) (1872-1959) Landis

(These are the basic facts I have for this family, listed here to help guide the research process. As photos, family stories, and other data are submitted, I hope to develop a narrative.)

James A. Snyder, grandson of Peter B. Snyder, includes George Landis in his list of "early settlers of the Snyder Colony." (article) He stated that they were non-Mennonites, but both George and Fannie's obituaries indicate they were church members. In fact, George was ordained as a deacon in the Spring Valley congregation, near Canton, Kansas, in 1900, and as a minister in the Milan Valley congregation at Jet, Oklahoma, in 1902.
