Snyder Community Families after 1923

Ben M. and Creola (McAnelly) Harris

(These are the basic facts I have for this family, listed here to help guide the research process. As photos, family stories, and other data are submitted, I hope to develop a narrative.)

Ben Harris arrived in Hale County in 1923 as a single young man; he lived with the John P. McGarrs and worked for them for the next few years. Creola McAnelly came in the fall of 1928 and taught at the Snyder school, living with the W. C. Buntins, whose land adjoined the McGarrs. On December 22, 1928, Ben and Creola were married in the First Methodist Church, Plainview. From 1932-1938, they were away from Snyder but returned and lived on the Milton H. Near farm, having bought it earlier. Ben died May 1, 1976.1
